Old Town has consistently blended tradition with technology. In 1898, the company built its first wood and canvas canoe with a blueprint that was designed to be easier to maintain as well as being more durable than the Native American birch canoe which inspired it. Old Town's kayaks and canoes are to this day, hand-shaped from the same cedar forms used more than 100 years ago.

The Vapor 10 kayak is Old Town's newest get-in-and-go boat. It features a maneuverable and stable body, making it an ideal kayak for exploring lakes and slower moving rivers. It is specifically designed for entering and exiting the water quickly. The Vapor 10 is made to exceed expectations with its array of relaxed features such as the adjustable Comfort Flex XT seat with a padded seat and back, as well as soft thigh pads and adjustable foot braces.

As with other Vapor series models, the truly revolutionary design feature of this kayak is the stern day well. It's easy to keep your food and other belongings safe and secure above the water since the outer edges of the day well are higher than the cockpit rim and well above the water.

Other features included are a molded-in paddle rest and built-in carrying handles. The kayak is built of single layer polyethylene and is available in colors such as sunrise and cloud.

While there aren't as many reviews for this kayak on Amazon.com as we would like to see, what it does show is the majority of people are quite happy with this kayak. It was stated as being a very nice kayak, and it comes directly from the factory with thigh pads, carrying handles, a drain plug and can holders. It's quite easy to get into and out of the kayak as well.

One great thing about this kayak is that it is easy for one person to load or unload by themselves, and it is also extremely stable once on the water. This particular reviewer mentioned that it sits high in the water and it tracks well.

One reviewer stated that he liked it so much that he is in the process of buying a second one for his wife. Another reviewer also stated that it tracks well and is very stable. They also felt that it seems faster than some of the other kayaks they've used prior to this one.

Another reviewer bought this kayak for only one reason, and that was to train for a long swim in a lake while someone else led the way in the kayak. According to this reviewer, the kayak is stored outdoors at a lake and seems impervious to the weather as well as children being rough on it in the lake all day. It is extremely simple to use.

One reviewer did feel that the kayak is not as good as it appears to be though. They felt it doesn't handle well and that it moves side to side with each stroke of the paddle. Next time they will try something else like this out before being so quick to purchase next time. The reviews were said to make it sound much better than it actually is.

Most people however really enjoy the kayak and feel the price is right, and that it performs quite well. As with most things, nothing is perfect. But the Vapor 10 is a stylish and solid kayak that performs just as good at it looks.
